Nobody Built a Platform for University Students. So We Did.
Every major platform built for working, earning, and building a career was designed with one type of person in mind.
Not a student.
LinkedIn was built for professionals. Upwork was built for established freelancers. Fiverr was built for independent service providers who already know how to market themselves. These platforms are good at what they do. But they were designed for someone who has already started. Someone with work history, with references, with a professional identity built over years in the workforce.
Students were never the priority. Not because anyone made a deliberate choice to exclude them. Simply because when those platforms were being built, the student was not the person in the room.
SkolaKonnect is different. We are a technology company building a global ecosystem of platforms designed entirely around the university student. Not as a future user. Not as a stepping stone to something more important. As the whole point.
Think about what a university student has right now. They have skills. Real, marketable skills they have been developing for years. They have time. More unstructured, self-directed time than they will ever have again in their career. They have a laptop, internet access, and the ability to communicate with anyone in the world. The tools that once required institutional backing or years of credential building to access are sitting on their phone.
What they do not have is a platform built for them.
Every freelance platform they try was designed for someone further along. Their lack of professional history works against them before they have said a word. Every networking platform they visit is optimised for connections they do not yet have. The infrastructure that connects talented people to real opportunities was built without them in mind.
So they wait. Not because they have to. Because the system was designed to make waiting feel like the only option.
The cost of that wait is not abstract. It shows up in the gap between what students are capable of right now and what the world currently allows them to do. It shows up every year, at every university, in every country where a talented student finishes a degree with no professional history to show for the time they spent building one.
The waiting room was never compulsory. It just looked that way because nobody had built the door out.
SkolaKonnect is building that door.
We started with one platform. SkolaGigs is a freelance marketplace built specifically for students. It connects university students with individuals and businesses that need skilled, project based work done. Students offer their skills across design, writing, coding, video editing, social media management, and more. Clients post projects or browse fixed price service offerings that students have built for themselves. Payments are protected. Reputations are built over time. Every completed project becomes a verified piece of a professional portfolio that exists before graduation, not after.
That is chapter one.
We are building more. Each platform in the ecosystem is designed to answer a specific question a student faces on the road from campus to career. How do I earn my first income? How do I find my first client? How do I build something real while I still have the time? How do I find the people who are building the same things I want to build?
The talent has always been there. The tools have always been there. What was missing was an ecosystem built around the student's actual life, rather than one designed for someone a few years ahead of them and adapted as an afterthought.
That is what we are building. One platform at a time.
